Young Achievers

Nikita Chawla is a student of class 10 of D.P.S. Vasant Kunj and an active member of the Environment Council Club. Unlike other teenage girls whose lives mainly revolve around fashion and partying, Nikita is a sensitive young writer and has written an assorted collection of short stories and poems, many of which have been published in the National Book Trust magazines like Children's World, e-magazines and Go Green among others. She basically writes on animal abuse and the beauty of nature. This young writer has been felicitated by thirty three R.W.A's of Vasant Kunj and was presented the achiever's award by MLA Mr. Lochav. Her flair for writing had been discovered at the early age of eight and she is currently working on her soon to be published book. She has also presented a collection of her poems to the Rashtrapati on environment related issues which are extremely relevant in today's day and age. She is very compassionate and is appalled at the neglect of these voiceless species. Nikita is academically bright and is a blue coat holder. For the Clean Ganga Project, she has recited her poem 'Maa Ganga Cries' at the Habitat Centre and was applauded by the UNESCO and UNICEF officials. But Nikita is not resting on her laurels. Through her upcoming book she aims at spreading awareness among people about the atrocities of animal abuse. Apart from being a responsible citizen of India she wants to be a global citizen of the world. Her latest achievement is the fact that she has been invited by an international magazine called 'Creature Companions' to author a guest column and has successfully written articles in two of their issues. Nikita has also been a part of the first international pet fair held recently in India. She has written articles for the news paper The Vision of Vasant Kunj. Voicing her opinion on child labor and animal's abuse.
