Class Picnic (Class - II)

Excitement began early in the morning when the children of class II went for a picnic to Vasant Vatika. They all went around the park a for a nature walk and explored the flora and fauna of the park. They all had gone well-equipped with rackets, bats and footballs to play games like cricket, badminton and football. A few children sat in groups and sang songs. This was followed by a somewhat long session of yummy tiffins. The children explored the park freely recharged after a sumptuous round of goodies and enjoyed themselves thoroughly.

This short picnic at the end of the session was very refreshing and rejuvenating for the children right after the second round of the their unit tests.

In the words of Alfred Hubbard, "Education is not preparation for life, but life itself." Standing on the threshold of the 21st century two schools located in different hemispheres were united in thought and action to bring light the true aim of education.

Mauritius College established by the honourable Mr. J. N. Roy and Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj a leading public school of the country entered into the second year of the exchange programme initiated in the year 2005.

From 11th June to 22nd June 2006 a group of ten students and two teachers visited Mauritius for a Pedogogical and Cultural Exchange Programme. This ten day programme aimed towards providing an exposure to young minds and build socially oriented, value based torch bearers for a better tomorrow.

During their stay the students and teachers were initiated into learning French. The group was also taken around the various enigmatic sights that nature has blessed the country with. Mauritius truly is God's Paradise on Earth.

As the students and teachers stayed with their respective host families, it gave all of them a peek into the sociological set up of the country. Mauritius is also known as Little India Overseas - which is very true as demographically speaking the country has 60% Indian population.

The most memorable part of the programme for all was finding new friends and families across the seas. The group at Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj now eagerly awaits the arrival of their Mauritian counterparts which will take place sometime in the month of November.
