The United Colours of India: The Republic Day Celebrations (24thJanuary,2011)
255 students of class V participated in the mock Republic Day Parade at the huge grounds of D.P.S. VK. The rendition left the audience spellbound. The Chief Guest, Rear Admiral Chopra, Vice Chairman D.P.S. VK, hoisted the National Flag along with the Director& Manager D.P.S. VK, Ms. Nina Sehgal, the Vice Principal, Ms. Rachna Gupta and other honoured guests for the day. Ms. Nina Sehgal welcomed the Chief Guest and parents. She also congratulated the prize winners and the Scholar Badge holders. The children dressed in colourful attires mesmerized the audience with foot-tapping folk dances, a well coordinated and synchronized March Past and Hoopla Drill, a peppy patriotic song “chanda, suraj, lakhon tare…”, and the Grand Finale summed up the theme of “The United Colours of India”. The Chief Guest wished success to children who may become Prime Minister or President in future. He advised them to appreciate and abide by the Constitution of India as it has given Indians many facilities. The Chief Guest, the Director& Manager D.P.S. VK and the Vice Principal gave away the Scholar Badges to the academic achievers of class IX for the session 2009-2010. Prizes were also given to the budding talents in sports and extra- curricular activities. The programme ended with the Vote of Thanks by the Head Boy of the junior school followed by the National Anthem.
