IT Infrastructure

"A Computer terminal is not some clunky old television with a typewriter in front of it. It is an interface where the mind and body can connect with the universe and move bits about it."

DPS VK believes in providing the best possible opportunities to its students as well as faculty to ensure consistent eminence.

The IT infrastructure includes four computer laboratories, each equipped with advanced technologies:

Multimedia Lab
Internet Lab
A Block Lab
D Block Lab

Multimedia Lab

Computer learning at DPS VK starts right from Prep where the tiny tots get the exposure to the technology through play way method. This lab offers learning aided by sound an graphics. The Lab has 23Multimedia PC with all required software packages.

Internet Lab

Internet Lab allows the students as well as faculty to research extensively by accessing the information on the global network during and after the school hours.

A Block Lab

A Block Computer Lab caters to the students of class XI and XII learning C, C++, Visual Basic and Oracle. The Lab has 24 Intel Pentium IV PC's with 256 MB RAM and 80 GB HDD.

D Block Lab

D Block Computer Lab facilitates the transition from "IT learning through the play way method" to advanced technologies like MS Office, VB, Oracle and HTML. The lab has 25 IBM machines with 17? Monitor Pentium IV with 256 MB RAM and 40 GB HDD

Physics, Chemistry & Biology Lab

Besides this the school has 2 sets of Labs each for all the science streams (Physics, Chemistry & Biology ) in the Sr. School and a general Science Lab for Junior School.

The labs are well lit and equipped with the best and high quality equipment. There is also an Electronics Lab which provides facilities to the students to prepare models. A unique feature is an astronomical telescope in the physics lab made by the students & approved by Nehru Planetarium.

Fashion Technology Lab

Today the youth is focused and fortunate to have excellent choices in new and upcoming fields that encourage individual talent for a bright future. Fashion Design is one such option. It is one of the most powerful forces in our lives.

Fashion Design as profession includes the entire process of designing and producing fashion apparels from the fibre and yarn stage to the finished product. Realising the wide scope of Fashion Design as a professional career the C.B.S.E. has introduced Fashion Studies at 10 + 2 level. The course will give an overview of fashion and elaborate on different aspects like elements of design, history of fashion, fabrics, understanding of the body, pattern development and garment construction.

Our Fashion technology lab was set up in August 2004 and the have been very ardently learning about the course.

Aims and objectives

To learn appropriate fashion terminology.
To gain knowledge of the working and interrelationships of different industries and services that comprise fashion business.
To introduce students to the origin and prospects of natural, man made and synthetic fibres and fabrics.
To brief them about various finishes.
To develop and initialize a design vocabulary, an essential tool for practicing as designers.
To teach them basic hand and machine stitches.
To teach them simple machine operations.

MATHS LAB

World would come to a standstill without the use of Maths. It is an indespensible part of our lives. Ispite of the subject being so important, it accounts for the maximum number of failure and a high degree of ?mathsphobia?; thus resulting in a poor attitude for maths. The reason lies more with the way the subject is presented and less with the child?s aptitude.

In order to facilitate the children to comprehend certain abstract concepts and to transform the so called tricky abstract and impractical subject into an interesting learning experience; it is desirable that it should be brought to concrete operational level where children can check and verify the validity of concept through activities and thus view maths close to life. This is what we at Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj do in maths lab. The maths, lab in our school was inaugurated by our Chairman, D.P.S. Society, Mr. Narendra Kumar on June 2003.

Our aim is to make match more pragmatic and interesting. Our emphasis si on process being more important than the product. It is well equipped with basic models to verify various concepts and theorems in maths. The children work in groups and are provided with small working units. They discover various concepts and facts by themselves thus giving them a feel of maths. The creativity of the students is allowed free play. The are encouraged to find alternative solution and alternative methods. Teachers and students work as joint investigating teams.

The lab is also quipped with computers to use technology for learning. Children see and prepare various power point presentation. They link maths with other subjects thus developing interdisciplinary thinking.
