He is the guiding light and the moving spirit behind the rapid growth and progress of the school. The chief architect of its success story, Mr. Vinay Kumar has been steering the destiny of the school since October 1994. The youngest ever Principal of a core DPS School, Mr. Vinay Kumar was conferred the Best Upcoming Principal Award in 1996 in recognition of his sterling performance. Mr.Vinay Kumar also received the National Award for Teachers 2002. Mr. Vinay Kumar joined DPS R. K Puram in 1976 as a Biology teacher and soon made a mark as an outstanding teacher, earning the sobriquet, "Maker of Doctors".

He rose to become the Vice-Principal of DPS R.K. Puram in 1992. Always the keen scholar, Mr. Kumar has authored 15 books on Biology and continues to teach and prepare DPS Vasant Kunj students for PMT, with brilliant results.

A simple, unassuming man who has endeared himself to students and staff alike with his gentle demeanour and inimitable style of directness and informality, Mr. Vinay Kumar is a man with a mission. Embodying the values of hard work, perseverance and moral courage, he is fired with a dogged determination to make DPS Vasant Kunj a `temple of learning' which not only helps students along the road to academic achievement but promotes all-round development and prepares them to be good citizens.
