Debate Society   

 

 

The Debate Society of DPS Vasant Kunj witnessed its formal inception in April 2005 under the aegis of Ms Meeta Kumar (HoD, English). In the very first year it had left behind a blazing trail of achievements, bagging most of the trophies for the various competitions that they have participated in. The wonderful effort made by the team and the participants has brought laurels to the school.

REPORT 2007-2008

The Sri Ram School organized the Annual Sri Ram School English Debate from 6th to 10th August '07. 12 elite schools participated in the Debate to coin the trophy. DPS Vasant Kunj won the overall trophy. The results are as follows:

Round 1 :        Vihan Dang (class XII) was awarded the Best Speaker.

Round 2 :         Nayonika Dutta (class XII) was adjudged as the Best Speaker.

Semi Finals:     Nayonika Dutta was awarded Best Speaker.

                       Yashi Mehta (class XII) was awarded the second Best Speaker

Finals :             Vihan Dang was awarded the Best Speaker.

                        Nayonika Dutta was awarded the second Best Speaker

REPORT -YEAR 2006

  • In the Inter School Debate Competition held at Shri Ram School in August 2005, Sravanti and Karan Nambiar were adjudged Best Speaker and second Best Speaker respectively. Divya Jakhar and Reshbha were also adjudged as Promising Speakers.
  • Nikhil Nathani bagged the Best Jury Award in the Abhimanyu Bhattacharya Annual Memorial Debate 2005 held at DPS Noida on 22nd August 2005.
  • In the Recitation Competition held at Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan on 23rd August 2005, Aishwarya of class VIII won the first prize.
  • In the Inter School Competition held at Bluebells School, Gurgaon from 31st August to 3rd September, the Debate Society bagged the Overall Winners Trophy. The students bagged first prize in debate. Sravanti was awarded Best Speaker (For) and Divya was awarded second Best Speaker (Against). Udit Mahajan was also adjudged best Interjector.
  • In the Oratory competition held at Cambridge School on 2nd September 2005, Moumita V Roy bagged the first prize and Shakti P Nair got the consolation prize.
  • Abhirup and Karan Nambiar won the 'Armageddon' parliamentary debate held at Father Agnel School. Abhirup was also adjudged Best Speaker.
  • In the 'Interact Club Debate' organized by DPS R K Puram on 9th September 2005, Divijo Goswami, Saumya Saxena and Raj Luthra bagged the 'Best Team' trophy and also bagged the second and third Best Speaker awards.
  • Aditya Ray of class IX and Nilotpal Jha of class VIII bagged the Overall Trophy in the International DPS Debate Competition held at DPS Kuwait in October 2005. Aditya was also adjudged the Best Speaker.
