Karan Malhotra,
My time at DPS VK was the most enriching and utilitarian experience that a student could ask for. I was with the school since its inception and have had the pleasure of watching it grow into a top institution, establishing standards for academic excellence and achievement. The school is renowned for its record in academics and sports and its students are recognized amongst the best and the brightest.
As Head Boy of the school at both the junior and senior level, I have also had the honor of being flag-bearer of our esteemed institution. It was a wonderful learning curve and taught me the virtues of hard-work, leadership and responsibility. As head of the student council, I was involved in all manner of activities, whether cultural or technical; from organizing our annual school functions to various intra-school and inter-school competitions.
I was fortunate enough to be able to interact with a host of dignitaries and chief guests and gain a fresh perspective on the pros and cons of the school system and I was involved in framing the first tentative, school evacuation plan during emergencies. There were also a no. of landmark campaigns begun at the time including the 'Say No To Drugs' and 'Support The Blind' campaigns, started in association with a prominent NGO.
Undoubtedly though, the highlight of my tenure was Jagrit, the hugely successful, inter-DPS concert organized, with the support of hundreds of teachers and students, to raise awareness on issues related to AIDS and HIV. The music was loud, the night was truly colorful and it brought together the entire DPS fraternity for one momentous, worthwhile occasion.
On graduation, I joined the Narsee Monjee University to pursue my degree in Computer Engineering, yet I still look back fondly on my many years at school. I would like to extend a warm vote of thanks to all my teachers; the lessons I learnt and the friends I made will continue to be with me for the rest of my life and I'm confident that nowhere else could I have attained such a wholesome and wonderful education as at DPS.
